Best Granblue Fantasy Relink weapons
In the grand scheme of things, there’s no single best weapon in Granblue Fantasy Relink. They all have their uses.
Beyond the Collection bonuses applied to a character for each weapon they upgrade, each weapon fits into a distinct type; Stunner, Defender, Executioner, Stinger, or Ascension.
Particular fights will favour attacks from a certain type of weapon. It’s all about picking the right weapon for the job at hand. Unlock and upgrade them all to always have the best weapon you need at the time.
How to get the secret weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink
Across the main story are five secret weapons for the game’s supporting cast. Not only do they offer impressive power boosts as you go through the story, but through the weapon collection system, they serve a purpose long after they’re replaced by potentially stronger equipment.
Each story character’s secret weapon is hidden in one of the 100+ chests scattered throughout the campaign after Chapter 3. Pulling them out of a chest isn’t a case of dumb luck. There’s no gacha here. They’re also pulled straight from the Granblue Fantasy browser game, offering a dose of nostalgia for those coming over from there.
Here’s where to find the secret weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink:
Chapter 4 – Wheellock Axe (Rackam’s secret weapon)
The first secret weapon you can come across is Reckam’s Wheellock Axe. When you board the second red airship, you’ll find it in a gold chest to the right of the main Control Unit you destroy to sink the ship.
Chapter 5 – Flame Rapier (Katalina’s secret weapon)
After the fight with Scarmiglione, enter the Felfrost Altar and head down under the stairs. You’ll find Katalina’s secret weapon in the chest in the far-right corner. If you’ve already cleared the campaign, you can use it to start from the Enter Historiath section of the chapter to get pretty close to it.
Chapter 6 – Rose Crystal Knife (Rosetta’s secret weapon)
Once you’re in the desert, slide down the ramp into the first open area. Take a right into the chamber, up the stairs straight ahead, and take a sharp right after going down the next tiny set of stairs. Rosetta’s secret weapon is in a gold chest at the top of the staircase.
If you can, use the chapter select screen to jump to the second section. That way you’ll skip the opening section in Seedhollow and be just a short walk from Rosetta’s weapon.
Chapter 7 – Collosus Cane Omega (Io’s secret weapon)
Right after dropping into the volcanic area, just head straight up the path. Hop down into the lava below and use the platforms to jump to the ledge straight ahead. Io’s secret weapon is in a gold chest there.
Chapter 8 – Matchlock (Eugen’s secret weapon)
After fighting beyond the Corridor of Peace and into the next area of Seedhollow Castle, you’ll progress east and into the storage cellar. Right as the path bends around, there’s a chest on the left with Eugen’s secret weapon inside.
How to unlock each Granblue Fantasy Relink character’s final weapon
Once you’ve crafted every weapon and found each character’s secret weapons in story mode, you’ll notice there’s still a gap in your collection. These final character weapons require a lot of skill and quite a bit of luck to obtain.
To unlock every character’s sixth weapon, you need to complete every quest on the Proud difficulty. After that, each clear of the (spoilers ahead) Proto Bahamut fight will have a chance to drop your current character’s final weapon.
We haven’t been able to test to confirm the theory yet, but it’s said that final weapon drops are exclusive to playing online via Open rooms. Playing offline in Closed rooms with AI could mean never obtaining each character’s final weapon.
With that, you should have every character weapon unlocked. Upgrade the lot and slot mastery points into your favourite character’s Collection page to reap the rewards. All done with Granblue?
